Grants awarded to Dawson researchers\u00a0are administered by Dawson College, as the signatory of the Tri-Council Agreement on the Administration of Agency Grants and Awards by Research Institutions<\/a><\/strong>. By accepting research funds, Dawson agrees to comply with all rules and regulations set out by the granting agency. The Academic Dean at Dawson reviews and approves all grant proposals submitted with Dawson as the administering institution.<\/p>\n

To track the approval process and manage data relating to grants submitted by Dawson affiliated researchers, we use a Grants Management System in SharePoint<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0If you are a Dawson researcher, please submit your proposal following the steps below\u00a0in order for the Academic Dean to review your grant. You must submit details of your project to the GMS before Dawson will forward it to the appropriate agency; please submit by the deadline posted on the Research website to ensure there is sufficient time to get institutional approvals. <\/strong>Please consult the Home Page<\/a> for internal submission deadlines.<\/p>\n

Guide to the submission process<\/h2>\n

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING<\/h3>\n

Please email the Research Office<\/a> at least four (4) business weeks before the Internal Deadlines with your intent to apply for which grant–this should be done if you are considering applying. If you need some editing, then please let the Research Office know at least six (6) weeks in advance. Earlier is always better.<\/p>\n

Please note: Internal Deadlines are a minimum of ten (10) full business days before submission date. By the Internal Deadline, you should have a submission ready application. Please feel free to reach out to the Research Office<\/a> for further information.<\/p>\n

ONE<\/h3>\n

Navigate to the SharePoint Grants Management System<\/a> homepage and enter your Dawson Credentials (email and Dawson password) to login. If you are not on campus, you will need to include the string “dawsoncollege\\” before your username:\u00a0dawsoncollege\\username<\/strong><\/p>\n

TWO<\/h3>\n

Enter the title of your proposal in the \u201cTitle\u201d box; read the agreement form, and click \u201cAgree\u201d if you agree to comply with the terms and conditions.<\/p>\n\"title<\/a>\n

THREE<\/h3>\n

Using the tabs, enter as much\u00a0relevant information as possible. If you\u2019re requesting release time from Dawson, please write a brief justification (including the amount of release requested per year) in the \u201cJustification\u201d box.<\/p>\n\"data<\/a>\n

You can save your proposal without submitting it and return at a later time by clicking \u201cSave\u201d<\/p>\n

FOUR<\/h3>\n

When you\u2019re satisfied with the information\u00a0entered, please click on \u201cSubmit for Approval\u201d in the lower left corner.<\/p>\n

After\u00a0you submit,\u00a0the Research Coordinator<\/a> receives an email indicating\u00a0that a new\u00a0proposal is awaiting approval; the Coordinator then reviews the proposal, uploads any additional documents\u00a0and forwards the proposal to the Academic Dean for review. The Academic Dean may approve, reject or request more information. After the Academic Dean has\u00a0approved the proposal, the Research Coordinator will forward it to the agency.<\/p>\n
