Timetable and Registration Guide

Winter 2020

Please note: This Timetable and Registration Guide pertains only to daytime students. For Continuing Education students, please see the following page: Continuing Education Online Registration

If you are a Continuing Education student having difficulty with your online registration, please fill out a REGISTRATION HELP FORM found in the MyDawson Portal, under “My College Services / Continuing Education Registration Help Form”.

The timetable is a complete listing of all courses offered by the college for a specified semester.  You can use the timetable to search for information on courses you are interested in.

This information includes:

  • Title and number of course
  • Section number
  • Section Title (if applicable)
  • Teacher(s) name(s)
  • Description of course
  • Course pre-requisites or co-requisites (if applicable)
  • Course drop deadline
  • Actual schedule of course

The Winter 2020 Timetable and Registration Guide will be available on December 9 through the MyDawson portal.  Once you have logged onto the portal, select Timetable and Registration Guide from the My College Services menu on the left.  The Timetable is updated regularly for any changes such as new sections added or sections closed.

Please be sure to read Timetable Instructions before using the Timetable search features.

Note to other members of the Dawson Community: You will find the Timetable and Registration Guide under the Academic Services menu.

If during your registration session you encounter difficulties, please call the HELP LINE only once your appointment time has started. Help is available on the phone or by chat (through the course registration module). DO NOT COME TO THE COLLEGE OR CALL THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE, since advisers are working at the Help Line!

They will be available to answer your calls on the following dates, during your registration time:

January 2          from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

January 3          from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

January 4          from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

January 6-10     from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

January 13-14    from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Register at your appointment time to have the broadest course selection available. Remember that in order to be officially registered in your courses, you must finalize your schedule (important: see how to register video mentioned above for clear instructions).

Help during Registration – Call the Registration Help Line if…

You are unable to access the course registration module at your assigned online registration access time

You have not been allocated all of the concentration courses proposed to you on your progression chart.

You are unable to register for all of the courses proposed to you (you get a message that no seats are available in any section of a particular course).

You wish to discuss your course selections with an academic adviser.

You would like to reduce your course load by more than 2 courses and are therefore unable to complete your reduced course load request online.

You need help adding a pre-college level French course to your schedule.

You need help adding a university prerequisite course to your schedule.

You have added all of your courses but cannot finalize your registration.

Do NOT call the Registration Help Line if…

You cannot register because you haven’t paid your fees.

Click here to find out how to proceed: https://www-staging.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/finance/student-fees/

You wish to be added to a course/section that is full (i.e. because you would prefer a different teacher or day/time than the course allocated to you). Switch courses during the official course change period, after classes begin. (Help Line operators cannot add students to course sections that are full and no wait lists are kept for daytime courses.)
You feel you have been placed at the wrong French level.

Speak to your French teacher about your concerns during the first class of the semester.

You have questions about, or have not taken, an English placement test. Visit https://www-staging.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/registrar/english-french-placement-tests/ which includes test details and appropriate contact info.
You are in a technical (career) program and, due to exceptional circumstances, need to inquire about switching groups/course sections.

See your program web page in order to contact your program coordinator.

You want to know if there are seats available in a particular course/ section. Use the Check for Available Seats box on the Course Request Form within the registration system (the How to Register video).
You have already finalized your schedule and are hoping to make changes. Switch courses during the official course change period, after classes begin. (Once you have finalized your schedule, further changes cannot be made during the regular online registration period.)
You wish to take an evening course.

Daytime students cannot take evening courses for reasons of scheduling preference.
