Course Description: Upon completion of the course, the students will have learned how to perform effective radiation protection as applied to the patient, the public and themselves. This course gives the student knowledge and understanding of the basics of radiation protection and safety in respect to room design, understanding the risks and effects on the body associated to radiation exposure. The students will also explore emerging technologies in regards to treatment and planning equipment. |

Course Description: This course is the second of the two Patient Care courses in Radiation Oncology, which is designed to further develop aspects in professional responsibilities, communication, patient care, safety, and the patient preparation for imaging interventions requiring contrast. |

Course Description: This Applied Dosimetry course deals with radiation dosimetry and concentrates on beam measurement techniques, quality assurance issues in treatment planning, as well as the special techniques used in treatment planning and delivery. The basic quantities and units used in dosimetry are discussed in detail and their application in the calculation of clinical dose distributions is explained. The course starts with a discussion of single photon beams and progresses through dose distributions obtained with multiple photon beams to electron beams and dosimetry in brachytherapy. Students will produce and evaluate clinical treatment plans. |

Course Description: In a simulated environment, the Treatment Application 2 course will allow students to safely practice and perform the treatment process by performing QA procedures on all apparatus in the room as well as monitoring devices, preparing the room and patient for the procedure, aligning and administering treatment in a simulated environment. |
